Lympstone Manor 

For those looking to spend a luxury overnight stay with their four-legged friends in Devon, Lympstone Manor offer dog-friendly hotel accommodation in the form of two dog-friendly suites as well as six Shepherd Huts. 

The beautiful hotel grounds are the perfect place to take dogs for a morning stroll or evening wander – the Lady’s Walk, dating back to the Georgian period, has access to the Exe Estuary Trail meaning you and your pet pooch can explore further while searching for that paw-fect stick to chase! 

In each dog-friendly room, the hotel provides a dog bed, towel, torch and dog bowl. 

Royal Beacon Hotel 

With spectacular views of the Jurassic Coast, this charming hotel is an elegant landmark in Exmouth. Sensitively decorated in a contemporary regency style, the ideals of comfort and relaxation are a priority here.   

A hotel for all seasons, The Royal Beacon is an ideal base for walks along the sandy coastline and an excellent venue of choice for fine dining and superb hospitality. 

The hotel is also dog friendly, with a limited number of dog-friendly rooms on offer which must be pre-reserved. Dogs are charged at an additional £20 per dog, per night. 

Devon Cliffs Holiday Park 

Known as one of Devon’s finest beach resorts, Devon Cliffs Holiday Park is a fantastic holiday base for all the family. With everything from an unrivalled range of on-site activities to try and an award-winning beach just a stone’s throw away, Devon Cliffs has everything you need for a memorable getaway.  

What’s more, dogs are welcomed here with open arms! There’s a dog-friendly restaurant terrace; and walking areas on and off the park to make your pooches’ tails wag. Please note dogs are not allowed on the beach between 1 May – 1 September. 

Castle Brake  

Castle Brake is a fantastic place to take your dog on holiday. Enjoy both their on-site Nature Trail Walk or access to nearby Woodbury Common via a track just 500m from the park  entrance. Popular with walkers, Woodbury Common boasts miles of open heathland where your dog can explore and roam freely. 

Castle Brake is also only a few miles away from some beautiful beaches that allow dogs on designated areas throughout the year. Please note, dogs must be always kept on a lead in the park. 

Ladram Bay Holiday Park 

Ladram Bay Holiday Park’s range of accommodation runs from camping pitches and glamping pods to holiday homes, apartments, and luxury lodges complete with hot tubs. It’s all nestled on the cliffs of Devon, with an incredible ocean view and direct access to a secluded, private beach.

No trip is complete without indulging in local culinary delights. Exmouth boasts a range of cafes and restaurants that not only serve delicious food but are also happy to accommodate your dog. 

The Point 

Owner Richard, Manager Luke, and Head Chef Sam, supported by The Point Team, are passionate about the quality of food and drinks they offer, sourcing as many of their ingredients as possible direct from Devon farms, artisan beer and spirit pioneers, local Devon suppliers and producers.  

What sets The Point apart is its warm welcome to furry companions, as it proudly embraces a dog-friendly atmosphere – it’s a great place to stop off after a stroll on the beach. 

Rockfish, Exmouth 

Rockfish in Exmouth offers the best seafood with the best view! This seafood restaurant is located next to the town slipway overlooking the beautiful Exe Estuary, with some of the best walking opportunities on its doorstep. That’s why well-behaved pets are more than welcome!  

Water is available for thirsty pups, and there are refill taps at all restaurants, so you can help yourselves to as much fresh water as you (or your pup!) need. All the team asks is that dogs stay on their leads, respect other guests, and that paws remain on the floor at all times. 

The Grapevine Brewhouse 

The Grapevine is a ‘devilishly handsome’ pub in the centre of Exmouth, serving local ales, its own brewed craft beer and excellent food. Located just off the town centre near the Strand, The Grapevine is proud to be both family friendly and dog friendly.

Dogs are more than welcome in all areas (even when wet from the beach!) but must be kept on a lead.

Stuart Line Cruises 

Stuart Line Cruises is a pet-friendly attraction with no additional charge for your dog. Your four-legged furry companions are welcome on most cruises however, there are a few exceptions (such as those with an extended duration) without the opportunity to disembark at any point. 

Welcoming your furry friends aboard, this cruise company offers a unique opportunity to explore the stunning Devon coastline together. From their comfortable vessels to their attentive staff, every detail is designed with both humans and dogs in mind. A La Ronde 

This quirky 16-sided house offers beautiful grounds where you can take leisurely walks with your dog. There are water bowls near the picnic area as you walk down the path towards The Barn. You’ll also find dog waste bins there. 

Although dogs are not allowed inside the house, the gardens and surrounding area are perfect for a stroll.  

Phear Park 

A great place for both play and relaxation, Phear Park boasts open spaces, a play area, and walking paths suitable for you and your dog. 

With its meandering pathways, vast spaces, and vibrant flora, Phear Park invites pups to explore and play to their heart’s content. Seaton Tramway 

Seaton Tramway, a delightful attraction in Devon, warmly embraces four-legged friends, making it a haven for dog owners.  

As you step aboard the vintage trams that wind through picturesque landscapes, your furry companion can join the adventure too. Dogs can ride on the lower decks of all the trams, when accompanied by a human companion. Seaton and Colyton Stations also have dogs bowls to keep pups refreshed after a day of riding the trams. Good dogs may even get a treat when they visit Seaton Station, just ask one of the staff members and they’ll be sure to share! 

Otterton Mill 

This historic mill turned vibrant destination not only welcomes visitors but also extends its warm embrace to furry companions. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome at the Mill in all outside areas and downstairs in the Café-Restaurant & marquee. There are plenty of water bowls available. Assistance dogs only are allowed in the Farm shop, Gallery & upstairs in the Café-Restaurant. 

Foot Golf on the Exe 

This exciting activity centre in Exmouth warmly welcomes canine companions to join in on the adventure. As you aim for the perfect kick, your furry friend can frolic freely in the designated dog-friendly areas, ensuring a day of enjoyment for everyone. With the scenic Exe Estuary as the backdrop, you and your pup can revel in a blend of sports and outdoor bonding. 

 

 

Dog-Friendly Walks 

The Esplanade 

There really is nothing like strolling along the longest seafront in Devon. Whether you’re after a breath of fresh air, keen to do a bit of people watching (exactly what the promenade was used for in Victorian Times) or you just want to drink in the beautiful vistas, The Esplanade is the perfect place for a leisurely walk with your dog.  

There is a pavement along the top of the beach, so the walk is both pushchair and wheelchair friendly. However, it can be a busy walk so expect lots of activity! If you’re walking your dog, do pick up after it. Fines are in place. 

The Jurassic Coast 

Embarking on dog walks along the Jurassic Coast in Exmouth is a journey through time and nature, where history meets exploration. Leash up your canine companion and venture onto ancient trails that unravel stories etched in the rugged cliffs and pristine beaches. With the breathtaking backdrop of the World Heritage Site, you and your pup can roam freely, immersing yourselves in the wonders of the past and present. The most westerly point of the Jurassic Coast, Orcombe Point offers views over the Exe estuary and out to sea. The Orcombe Point circular walk is a great moderate walk for dog owners to try. Follow part of the South West Coast Path before passing through meadows rich with wild flowers in spring and summer.  

Exmouth Tours 

Learn about Exmouth’s fascinating past and exciting present with your pooch at your side on a 2.5km walking tour of the town! 

With Exmouth Tours, you can explore Exmouth’s past, present and future, detailing the most fascinating stories from the town’s history with plenty of local recommendations for things to see and do while you’re in town. 

Dogs are welcome to plod alongside their owners, the tour guide simply asks that they are kept on a lead throughout.  

Exe Estuary Trail  

This 26-mile cycle/walking trail is almost entirely traffic free and takes you right around the entire Exe estuary from Dawlish to Exmouth. Passing through some beautiful riverside towns and villages you get the chance to enjoy some spectacular views of the estuary and all its wildlife. 

Suitable for all, children and dogs will have just as much fun exploring as the grown-ups, with ample to see and do along the way. 

 

South West Coast Path 

This iconic path offers breathtaking coastal views and stretches along the shores of Exmouth. Take your pup for a leisurely stroll as you absorb the beauty of the sea and cliffs. Remember to check specific sections for lead requirements. 

EXMOUTH TO LYMPSTONE WALK 

This delightful walk follows the estuary, passing through charming villages and providing serene waterside views. Your dog will love exploring the shoreline and taking in the refreshing breeze. 

MAER LOCAL NATURE RESERVE  

Ideal for a peaceful walk, this reserve offers a mix of habitats, including wetlands and dunes. Your dog can enjoy the natural scents and sights while you appreciate the tranquillity. 

EXMOUTH TO BUDLEIGH SALTERTON

A longer walk, this route follows the coastline and offers your pup plenty of opportunities to enjoy the sand and surf along the way. 

WOODBURY COMMON

Just a short drive from Exmouth, Woodbury Common boasts expansive heathlands and woodland trails. It’s a dog-friendly area perfect for exploring nature.

Exmouth is home to some fantastic beaches where your furry friend can enjoy the sand, sea, and sunshine. Here are a few dog-friendly beaches in the area: 

SANDY BAY BEACH

BUDLEIGH SALTERTON BEACH

A bit further down the coast, this charming pebble beach welcomes dogs all year round. Explore the coastal path or simply enjoy the tranquillity with your furry companion. 

EXMOUTH BEACH

Dogs are allowed on Exmouth Beach main beach during the winter months. Between 1st May and 30th September, dogs are only allowed at each end of the beach.
