Stuart Line Cruises is a family-run passenger boat company, operating throughout the year from the traditional seaside town of Exmouth, in East Devon.

Now running for more than 50 years, the multi-award-winning company is proud to be Exmouth’s leading visitor attraction and widely considered one of the best boat trip providers in the country.

Based at the mouth of the River Exe within East Devon’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), Stuart Line Cruises facilitate unrivalled exploration of the Exe Estuary throughout the year and during the summer months they offer stunning coastal cruises along Devon’s magnificent East and South Devon coastlines. Their cruises appeal to people of all ages and interests, with a busy timetable bursting with everything 1-hour circular cruises, to full day trips, private charter and an exciting range of special events including live music, fish & fizz, geology day trips, summer air shows and evening cruises.

Exmouth is situated within one of the most richly diverse natural environments in the country and boasts two key points of particular interest, making it the best place in Devon for a boat trip.

Firstly, Exmouth represents the gateway to the oldest section of England’s first natural world heritage site – the Jurassic Coast, where the distinctive red sandstone cliffs are 250 million years old. This heritage site is of global significance, in line with the Grand Canyon, Great Wall of China and the Great Barrier Reef and Stuart Line Cruises are the only boat trip company to offer cruises of this section of the coastline, unveiling millions of years of the earth’s history and geology, as well as some truly fascinating wildlife along the way.

Secondly, Exmouth is situated at the mouth of the River Exe – the longest river in Devon which opens out into the English Channel on Exmouth’s glorious seafront. Water conditions in the River Exe are unaffected by the sea conditions and River Exe Cruises are therefore able to operate throughout the year, come rain or shine, branding them a truly weatherproof attraction. On board comfort is ensured by seasonal capacity limits and the lower saloon of the vessels is covered and heated, with large panoramic windows for excellent viewing. The Exe Estuary represents a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) with Ramsar designation, due to its prolific migratory bird life during winter. Thousands of birds – many rare species – migrate to the calm and sheltered waters from Greenland, Iceland and Arctic Siberia to have their babies and feed on the rich biodiversity found in the vast mudflats and Stuart Line Cruises are delighted to offer award-winning Guided Bird Watching Cruises during this time.

Stuart Line Cruises are renowned locally for their brightly coloured vessels and exceptional customer service, as well as truly excellent value for money. Their boats are modern and exceptionally well-maintained, featuring great onboard facilities, including fully licensed bars which showcase a range of local beers, ciders, artisan gins and snacks and the cheapest cuppa you’ll find anywhere around!

Stuart Line Cruises are proud members of Devon’s Association of Top Attractions, making them one of the very best days out in Devon for families and they are active members of the Coach Tourism Association, welcoming a diverse range of national and international coach groups.
