The Imperial Recreation Ground is the perfect setting for a summer Circus spectacular….
For the last two years Circus Funtasia has wowed audiences with their all-human circus spectacular on the Imperial Recreation Ground in Exmouth. This summer they are back with a brand new line-up of high flying acrobats, super-human fire-eaters, and death-defying motorcycle riders.
Packed with two hours of high quality live entertainment, you won’t be disappointed!
Heading up the stunts inside a giant rotating ‘Wheel of Death’ are daredevil Duo Sifolinis. Complete with blindfold and skipping rope, they perform incredible tricks inside spinning wheels in the air. Plus Circus Funtasia’s infamous Globe of Death motorcyclists are back with new riders and new routines taking the Wall of Death to a whole new dimension.
Geeky clown Emilion Delbosq will be taking centre-stage. Instead of face-paint and big wigs, Emilion prefers a smart shirt and geeky glasses when he performs in the ring. His unique blend of nerdy humour and seamless showmanship is a hit with all ages.
Emilion promises, “Thrill-seekers will love this year’s cast which includes the whip-cracking, fire-breathing Antonio Candela. He’s a hot act to follow!”
Antonio’s act fuses real flames with dramatic tricks. Antonio will also perform a comedy ladder act, guaranteed to make you laugh as he falls off and sets himself on fire.
“The great thing about our Big Top is that it has the feel of a theatre, but the thrill of a circus. People can smell the popcorn, feel the heat from the fire-eaters, hear the motorbikes, and this makes the atmosphere electric!”
Lucy-Louise will show off her dazzling power in a dangerous routine high in the air. Petite Felicia is performing an aerial act known as Straps, which sees her twist and hold her body into impressive positions on a long elastic strap, requiring great strength and years of experience.
Strongman Atilla will be testing the limits of the human body with a dramatic hand-balancing act. Once a painter and decorator, the acrobat will now put himself in the spotlight.
“A hula hoop and tightrope act is performed by French artist Elodie. And our teenage Harley Quinn lookalike Nia will also be back on her Segway, making everyone envious of her incredible knife-juggling skills!” says Emilion.
2018 marks 250 years since the first circus was put together in England by Philip Astley. Circus Funtasia stands proudly in this tradition whilst also blending modern influences, such as the recent Greatest Showman film. And You won’t find any animals at Circus Funtasia.
Ringmistress Tracy Jones explained, “With state of the art lighting and a modern soundtrack, we’re moving away from circuses of yesteryear. We love being a contemporary family show that everyone can enjoy. There’s never been a better time to experience the magic of circus!”
