ABOUT CENTRE STAGE
Centre Stage has been entertaining audiences in Exmouth since its start in 1971 and has become one of the best youth theatre companies in the country.
Formed as the 14–20 Music and Drama Society – its aims were to give young people the opportunity to learn theatre arts (music, dance and drama) through live performances. These aims remain a mainstay of the company structure some 47 years later.
The company membership is aged between 11 and 21 and has a junior section aged from seven. They all share a love for performing and it is through these performances that they learn valuable skills to shape their future.
Many previous members have gone on to work in musical theatre and film and never forget their happy memories spent in this, volunteer-led company.
As well as two large scale musicals, Centre Stage produces summer and winter concerts and supports other local charities in their fundraising campaigns.
The company has also performed nationally at the Royal Albert Hall, London Palladium, Hackney Empire London, and internationally in Langawehe Germany with its highly acclaimed Les Miserables.
